Startup Open House (SOH) is now less than one week away and, with so much to look forward to, we can’t help but emphasize why YOU, a talented, job-seeking, tech-loving, individual should attend!
This is the first time that SOH will “unlock” Ottawa. Since its inception in 2013, SOH has trickled across Canada (and even the UK) and encouraged 600 startups to open their doors to 10,000 visitors. Thousands of job seekers have attended – and our Ottawa edition doesn’t intend on being an exception to the trend!
And have you seen the line-up of participating startups?! From Kanata to downtown OTT, you will be able to peek inside the doors of our city’s top tech companies to see what they’re all about. On top of that, many of the offices will have drinks, snacks, tours, music and more waiting for you.

Shopify is a Canadian e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, ON, that develops computer software for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems. If you haven’t heard about them yet, you probably live under a rock.
What can you expect at their Open House?
- Explore Virtual Reality and learn more about what Shopify is doing with this cutting-edge technology,
- Beer and non-alcoholic drinks along with some tasty snacks and,
- A chance to meet with Shopify employees from several different departments!

If you know how to use word or PowerPoint, odds are you’ll know how to create a website using their platform!
