Summary of role

 

The Business Development Project Manager (BDPM) is primarily responsible for the Business Retention Expansion (BRE) Program and working with key multinational clients to facilitate incremental Foreign Direct Investment. The BDPM also assists the foreign direct investment Market Directors in promoting and attracting investment to Ottawa and overseeing the aftercare program. The BDPM will identify and promote business-to-business opportunities for Ottawa companies, both in Ottawa and abroad working with the Market Directors. The BDPM works closely with the entire Global Expansion team to facilitate investment and trade. Focus areas within the sector include: medical devices; clinical trials; bio and pharma; as well as technologies and applications that improve patient outcomes and deliver better coordinated and integrated healthcare.

High independent contact with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in the public and private sector, either locally and/or internationally, is a key characteristic of this position. The actions of the incumbent reflect on the organization and the City of Ottawa. This position may require long and /or irregular hours including attendance at a number of external functions representing Invest Ottawa. Some travel may be required.

Is this for you?

You are an energetic and highly motivated individual with 5 years’ relevant business development experience in the appropriate sector. You have demonstrated knowledge of the continental and international business communities as well as an understanding of the small, medium and large business markets in Ottawa region. This role requires a high level of understanding of the diversity of technology companies in the Ottawa region and current knowledge on key and future business and technology trends, issues and opportunities. You are known for your strong decision-making capability and exceptional commitment to customer service.

How will you know you have succeeded at the end of your first year?

The Business Development Project Manager leading the health and technology sector will be Invest Ottawa’s primary relationship manager with senior leadership in the Ottawa ecosystem. Beyond those elements, you will have established yourself as trusted leader within your team and the organization.
