Please join us for a fireside chat with David Dufresne of 500 Startups Canada. He will be speaking with Jon Milne, Invest Ottawa’s Director of Innovation, about the new Canadian fund and program. The chat will run from 6-7pm with questions and networking between 7-8pm.

Chat will take place within Invest Ottawa’s incubator space. Refreshments will be served.

David Dufresne is Venture Partner for 500’s Canada fund. David started his career in the Canadian VC industry in early 2000s, then acted as CEO of music tech company Bandzoogle for 5 years. He recently worked with music platform Bandcamp, before returning to VC and joining the 500 global family. Outside of work, David is a total music snob, an aging offensive defenseman at both hockey and soccer, and he likes to take his 2 daughters to explore the city and the great outdoors.

Jon Milne has over 10 years of experience in marketing, sales, business development and product management. As the Director of Innovation, he oversees entrepreneurship and startups services, instilling creativity, enthusiasm and a deeper understanding of Invest Ottawa’s ecosystem and community stakeholders. Previously, Jon held various roles at Irdeto including Director of Sales, Director of Global Field Marketing and Product Marketing Manager. Prior to Irdeto, Jon co-founded Software Theories Inc. and held positions with IBM Canada, Corporate Renaissance Group and Public Works and Government Services Canada.Jon has Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University and an MBA from Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business. He returns to Ottawa after having spent two years in the Netherlands with his wife and three children.
