CANARIE strengthens Canadian leadership in science and technology by delivering digital infrastructure to support world-class research and innovation. CANARIE’s DAIR Cloud Program has provided more than 900 SMEs with free cloud resources to accelerate their product development and reduce their investments in capital. Tom will explain how startups can leverage cloud technologies to optimize business operations and product development.

Tom has led a 25+ year career in the technology sector and joined CANARIE in May, 2017 as the Senior Director of Technology Innovation. In this role, he’s accountable for services that support private sector innovation and strengthen identity and access management in higher education. Tom regularly engages with Canadian startups and SMEs to ensure that CANARIE’s programs and services and services are aligned with the evolving needs of this community. Prior to joining CANARIE, Tom fulfilled many roles and responsibilities for a local software consulting startup, Headwall Software, which was acquired in 2012 by BackOffice Associates. Prior to this, Tom held various positions at startups and Fortune 500 companies, including Avaya, Hummingbird/OpenText, Cognos/IBM and March Networks. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter and is an avid sports and music enthusiast.
