Greening your Workplace – Without Guilt
Have you ever felt like the nagging environmentalist trying to make your colleagues see the consequences of their choices… with little effect? Angela will share strategies and targeted language to help convince your employer/ employees / co-workers to make change without needing to make them feel guilty. She will also discuss which components in your workplace have the largest impact on the environment and best practices to reduce these impacts. Angela’s approach comes from her work with EnviroCentre, a local non-profit whose mission is to provide people, communities and organizations with practical solutions to lighten their environmental impact in lasting ways. EnviroCentre’s Carbon 613 program offers businesses and workplaces in Ottawa the tools and support to measure, reduce, and report on their sustainability with powerful performance metrics.
Angela Plant is the Program & Business Development Manager for @Carbon 613 working to grow the voice of businesses taking action on climate change. She formerly worked on environmental policy and advocacy as assistant to David Chernushenko, Chair of the Environment Committee at the City of Ottawa. After work, Angela also organizes the @JanesWalkOttawa – Gatineau Festival and loves biking to her home, an urban farm off Carling @BeetBox_Coop.
