TECH DEN is the HR Tech Summit’s flagship program – celebrating excellence in HR startups and entrepreneurship in Canada.
Vying for the ultimate prize, a $20k marketing campaign in HRD Magazine/HRM Online publications, hundreds of HR Tech startups will be whittled down to just eight finalists.
These lucky finalists will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to pitch their solutions to a panel of judges and investors.
With participation from across Canada, including an industry jury of potential investors, the Tech Den is Canada’s most sought-after competition of its kind.

How it works:
1. Nominate your startup company by May 30, 2017
Interested startups can apply for the contest by nominating themselves at the link below, to explain their business model and answer the following questions:
1) How are you being disruptive within the HR technology space?
2) What is your unique value proposition/advantage within the HR industry?
3) What is your long-term plan with your solution/service?
2. Finalists Announced
Eight finalists will be chosen by HRD Magazine’s editorial team based on their answers to the above questions. The eight finalists will be graded on a 10-point scale system for each answer, and the startups with the highest number of points will be chosen to take part in the competition on June 27th, 2017 at the HR Tech Summit.
3. The Pitch
Eight finalists will be invited to the main stage at HR Tech Summit and in front of 400 + event attendees will each be given three minutes to pitch their solutions to a panel of judges and investors, who will then be given two minutes to cross examine.
4. The Prize
The winner will receive a 20k marketing campaign from HRD Magazine/HRM Online publication circulation reach of 30k+ HR professionals across Canada and the opportunity of getting funded by one of the investors. The eight finalists will also receive an exhibition booth space in the expo hall in the “Tech Den” area and a complementary 12-month subscription to HRD Magazine.
5. Eligibility criteria
Participation eligibility criteria for startups: Canadian independent/non-affiliated companies that are three years old or under as of June 27, 2017. The solutions/services must have a direct impact on HR/people functions within organizations and must include a technological element/component to their business models.
