Starting up a business is exciting, but it can be financially challenging, especially if your credit history is not strong. In this session you will learn credit and loan do’s and don’ts which will help you increase your chances‎ of getting a business loan. This session will help you to understand how the credit scoring system works, and how you can make yourself credit-ready while planning to start your business. In addition, you will learn how Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) might be able to help you on your journey to become a business owner.

Presenter:

Camélia Barrit, a highly diligent professional with a Bachelor in Business Administration, and international experience in the financial services and employment sector. Camélia is Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, with proven experience in the educational sector in collaboration with the European system. After moving to Canada, Camélia has committed to assisting newcomers to integrate to the community by volunteering her time as a settlement counselor in the Catholic Centre for Immigrants. She has also supported WorldSkills Employment Centre and Immigrant Women Services of Ottawa throughout the development and coordination of different events. Prior to joining the Ottawa Community Loan fund (OCLF) as a full-timer, Camélia managed responsibly multiple duties as an employment counselor within the WorldSkills/LASSA Network and a loan officer at OCLF. Camélia  believes that education and financial empowerment plays an important role in the life of each individual, creating a huge opportunity for personal growth.
