There are millions of dollars of grant money available every year to Canadian charities and non-profits. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to access this important revenue source. You will learn how to develop a funding application that accurately portrays the program you want funded to ensure that it aligns with the needs, priorities and mandates of potential funders. The workshop will focus on how to explain your unique value proposition, how to get information from a potential funder to strengthen your application, and the importance of key performance indicators (KPIs). Bring your laptop to this interactive session.

Who Should Attend
Anyone who needs to write grants, or who supervises the people who do.

What to bring?
This interactive session will be carried out live online through the Zoom platform, please make sure to have a Zoom-capable PC or Mac and, if possible, a microphone and camera to interact with other participants and the facilitator.

About the instructor
Tais McNeill is the Associate, Grants and Community Knowledge at the Ottawa Community Foundation, where he is responsible for guiding applicants through the Foundation’s application process, and for supporting the work of the Foundation’s Grants Committee.

In addition to working with the OCF’s Grants Committee, Tais has sat on review committees for United Way Ottawa and the Community Development Framework over seven years of working in Ottawa’s non-profit sector.

A native of Chelsea, Quebec, Tais holds a B.A. in International Development Studies from McGill University.
