Invest Ottawa is honoured to collaborate with the Embassy of the United States of America and KPMG to welcome TeLisa Daughtry, award-winning serial social entrepreneur, investor, diversity & tech advocate and creative from NYC to our innovation hub on Monday, February 24 from 5:30-8PM.
Join us as we build momentum for International Womxn’s Week (IWW) in the Capital Region, and engage in an impactful conversation with this inspiring founder, funder and innovator from the Big Apple.
TeLisa will sit down with Sheena Brady, Ottawa entrepreneur, Founder of Tease Tea and Founders Fund. During a fireside chat she will share her incredible entrepreneurial journey, lessons learned and inspirational insight for fellow founders, and how she is empowering women, youth and underrepresented groups entrepreneurship, social enterprise and tech.
It is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the top 50 Most Influential Women Entrepreneurs in NYC , and learn about her successes, hurdles and pivots with ventures such as FlyTechnista, FemX Ventures, and STEEAMnista.

Speaker Bio
TeLisa Daughtry is the Founder & CTO of FlyTechnista, a mobile app which provides women and girls with direct access to highly-curated education, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities in technology; the Founder of STEEAMnista, a non-profit that seeks to increase the participation, visibility, and leadership of women across S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), entrepreneurship, and makers; both initiatives have been in partnership with The White House in 2016; the Founder & Managing Partner at FemX Ventures, a private fund and launchpad for female founders; and author of ebook “Learn, Lead, Launch: A FlyTechnista’s Guide to Tech FLY & Hustle FLY”.
In 2018 she was named 50 Most Influential Women Entrepreneurs in New York City, by My Boss Tribe. In 2017 she was an honoree and recipient of an ACT4 Amward, recognized for her achievements in technology and advocacy for diversity; a Finalist for Code/Interactive: Diversity in Tech Awards; listed on MIC’s 1,000 Women in Tech and Science Speakers; and named Top 50 Visionary Women in Tech to Watch in 2017 by Innov8tiv Magazine. In 2016 she was recognized as a Change-maker for Innovation & Entrepreneurship by the United State of Women.
As an international keynote speaker, she uses her voice and visibility to educate, advocate, and elevate others. She has spoken at events such as the White House, United Nations General Assembly, Anita Borg/Grace Hopper, SXSW Edu, Google Women Techmakers, The American Heart Association, Harvard University, Wellesley College; as well as several conferences, corporate events, and institutions; and has been featured on television, radio, and in publications such as Entrepreneur, Fox News, Black Enterprise, Cheddar TV, CNN, CBS Radio, Salon, Good Day New York, WeRule, Bustle, BOLD, SWAAY, and more.

Transit: Bayview Yards is located 600 metres away from the Bayview Station LRT stop, which serves multiple routes as well is the O-Train stop.
Driving: There are 50 spaces along Bayview Station Road offering two-hour free parking, and 27 spaces along Stonehurst and Burnside offering one hour of free parking.
