Fundamentals of FREE Image Editing Software – introduction to Gimp image editor
Have you always been interested in photo editing and learning the basics of Photoshop, but the software seems complicated and pricey?
The market13 team would like to introduce you to GIMP, a no-cost photo editing application. GIMP offers a wide toolset, like Photoshop and is a great option if you are looking for a no-cost image editor.
This hands-on workshop will run on Thursday, June 3rd from 5:00-6:30 pm and cover the following areas:
- Download and installation of the GIMP software
- Basic functions
- General overview (toolbox, canvas and layers)
- Open/Save, Crop, Resize and export images
- Backgrounds, layers, brushes, color codes
- Fundamentals of photo editing such as cropping
The workshop is designed for people who are new to photoshop or looking to improve their editing and photo retouching skills. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about GIMP. There is no previous experience required.

The GIMP workshop will be run by Thomas Park, one of the current interns for market13 who oversees all things technical.
