GeoIgnite 2019: Canada’s National Geospatial Event

This inaugural event will bring together senior members of the government, business executives, and thought leaders in the IT and location technology sectors in our nation’s capital. GeoIgnite 2019 is to be the seed that grows into a truly national annual conference.

The theme of the conference is “Leadership, Innovation, and next-level Technology.”

This conference is focused on providing attendees with updates on technology, data, services, and thought leadership. GeoIgnite will bring the latest innovations and the next generation of disruptive geospatial technologies under one roof for two days of connection and collaboration.

In the coming weeks, GeoIgnite will unveil its list of speakers from global leaders in business, indigenous and the non-governmental sector who will share their visions of how geospatial technologies and data will shape the future of Canada.

Of course, we can’t forget the data and technology pioneers in the federal government who put Canada on the map and as a global leader in geospatial tools and data. They include Public Services and Procurement Canada, Agriculture Canada, Department of National Defence, Environment and Climate Change Canada , Natural Resources Canada, Statistics Canada, and Treasury Board Secretariat.

This conference is timely and will also provide excellent insight into how the issues of big data, artificial intelligence, standards, and digital innovation can come together under in an area of Canadian data and technology strength.

Exhibitors will present and showcase data products or solutions to our attendees. Demonstrations to our audience will enhance their understanding of the disruptive nature of the digital transformation and let them see first-hand why particular solutions are unique. Use this opportunity to raise brand awareness and educate our attendees from the public and private sector.
The opening Keynote is from Keith Masback who is the former Chief Executive Officer of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF.) Keith set the tone of the conference with an international perspective. Keith is one of the most knowledgeable international geospatial thought leaders in the world today.

Dr. Nadine Alameh will also join our keynote panel. She serves as OGC’s Chief Executive Office (CEO), and is responsible for creating and integrating the strategic direction and business plans of the Consortium.

Other important speakers include Prashant Shukle, Director General of the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation (CCMEO) who will speak to the future of mapping.

We also welcome Sanjay Kumar, Founder and CEO of Geospatial Media & Communications, who was conferred the ‘Global Geospatial Industry Ambassador’ Award by UN-GGIM.
