Green Drinks Ottawa – October 12, 2017: Zero Carbon Buildings

We are a local community who likes to talk green. That could be green energy, wind, solar, sustainable cities and so much more! Why not join us – the green talk starts at 5:30pm. Ask for the Green Drinks crowd when you get to the restaurant.

First round of appetizers compliments of our guest host and event sponsor: Ottawa Chapter, CaGBC
=========================================
This month we are pleased to welcome as a guest host and event sponsor the Ottawa Chapter of the Canadian Green Building Council. Kimberly Bouffard has generously accepted to manage the onsite activities.

Zero Carbon Buildings:
CaGBC’s Zero Carbon Building Standard is Canada’s first green building program to make carbon emissions the key indicator for building performance.
With this new Standard, Canada joins an elite group of countries, including Australia, France, Switzerland, UK and US who are showing leadership in carbon reduction.

Join us to discuss the next evolution of green buildings.
Buildings are a significant cause of GHG emissions. With approximately half a million commercial and institutional buildings in Canada alone, there is a huge opportunity for those working in the buildings industry to have a positive impact on environmental sustainability.

We invite you to join us for an interactive discussion about low carbon buildings: what they look like and how we get there.

Green Speaker Guest:

Fin MacDonald
Manager of the Zero Carbon Buildings Program
Canada Green Building Council

Fin MacDonald is the Manager of the Zero Carbon Buildings Program at the Canada Green Building Council. Prior to joining the CaGBC, Fin worked as a building sustainability consultant specializing in greenhouse gas emissions, energy benchmarking, and LEED. Fin’s work history in the carbon industry includes both the quantification and verification of greenhouse gas emissions. He has performed work for three of the big five Canadian banks, and also serves on the technical advisory group for the Ottawa region’s Carbon 613 GHG reporting program.
