The IO Accelerator Program: FAQ

What happens if I my application is not accepted?

We will provide feedback to all companies that are unsuccessful. A second reapplication to the program will be allowed.

Can I participate in the program if I have my own office space elsewhere? If so, is there a cost?

Absolutely! We’re eager to work with Ottawa’s very best, whether you are located here or elsewhere.

At this time, there will be no cost or equity taken for offsite Invest Ottawa Accelerator Program companies. We do ask and expect you to actively participate in community events and drop by regularly for meetings with your mentors and Invest Ottawa staff.

What is the difference between this new program and the services currently offered at Invest Ottawa?

The new Invest Ottawa Accelerator Program provides a much more structured path to success through a clear set of milestones. It will help shape a solid foundation for your business while preparing you for the next chapter in your journey.

Our new program consists of a competitive application process. Companies who qualify will receive additional resources such as access to all mentors and specialists, customized market insights, media exposure, and more.

What senior resources will Invest Ottawa be providing to assist at each phase?

Invest Ottawa will be recruiting top-quality mentors in the following areas:

  • Product Development and Design
  • Sales
  • Marketing
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Human Resources & Culture
  • Public Relations and Communications
  • Legal Frameworks

These mentors will work as a team to help move companies through the different program phases and meet all target milestones. We will be announcing our full lineup of mentors and specialists later this summer – so stay tuned!

Do I apply for a certain phase or does Invest Ottawa place me in a phase?

Although it is not necessary, applicants are welcome to self-identify to a phase. Once accepted into the program, companies will meet with our entire team of mentors to assess each area of their business and map them to a phase.
