Canada China Friendship Society – Speaker Series

What Hong Kong Means to Canada in China and Asia
Jeff Nankivell, Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao

Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 7:30pm

Canada and Hong Kong share a strong and long-standing relationship. Today, there are over 300,000 Canadians living in Hong Kong – the largest Canadian overseas diaspora in one city outside of Canada.

Hong Kong is a significant market for Canadian goods and services, and most importantly, acts as a strategic regional hub for Canadian companies to access mainland China and other Asian markets. As one of the world’s top financial centres, a regional leader in cargo and passenger transportation, and ranked as the most competitive and free economy in the world, Hong Kong is a natural location in which to do business.

The Consul General of Canada, Jeff Nankivell, will speak on the unique bilateral relationship between Canada and Hong Kong, and why Hong Kong is an important commercial market for Canadian companies. He will also discuss the vital role of Hong Kong as a conduit for mainland China and other Asian investment into international markets, including Canada.
