About the workshop

Clearly written contracts are one of the best ways to protect your business. This seminar will cover the basics of contract law, including how to create a binding contract, common types of commercial contracts and contractual clauses and best practices to protect your business in contractual relationships.

About the Presenters

As a corporate and commercial lawyer, Marina provides clients with a wide range of services, including assisting in acquisition and sale of businesses, commercial leasing, business formation and governance, as well as drafting and reviewing a variety of commercial contracts. In addition, she advises both franchisees and franchisors on franchise agreements and disclosure requirements.

Megan leads the Not-for-Profit and Charity Law team at Mann Lawyers, where she works with a variety of clients from small not-for-profits starting out to large national organizations, advising them on governance, regulatory and compliance matters, transactions and agreements of all kinds. In her business law practice, she has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions and contractual matters, including having worked the purchase and sale of professional practices. She also frequently works with clients on re-organizations, regulatory and compliance matters, the regulated professions and commercial agreements.

In this 1.5 hour session, you will be introduced to The Lean Start Up Canvas, which is a tool used to help validate your business. We will also be working through a cash flow sheet (which will be included and sent to all attendees).

It is important to develop a business model that clearly explains how your business could function and this session will help you take that first step. This session does not cover writing a business plan.

This workshop is presented by David Bird, Founder and Principal of Bird’s Eye Marketing, an Ottawa firm that specializes in getting businesses found on Google. He has been managing Google Ads (formerly AdWords) accounts since 2012, and is a recognized digital advertising and promotion expert.

David specializes in managing modest budget, small business Google Ads accounts.

He is certified with Google Ads with specializations in search, display and mobile advertising. He has a Certificate of Achievement in Web Analytics from the University of British Columbia, and has completed coursework in E-Marketing with the Canadian Marketing Association.
