About the Presenter

This workshop is presented by David Bird, Founder and Principal of Bird’s Eye Marketing, an Ottawa firm that specializes in getting businesses found on Google. He has been managing Google Ads (formerly AdWords) accounts since 2012, and is a recognized digital advertising and promotion expert.

David specializes in managing modest budget, small business Google Ads accounts.

He is certified with Google Ads with specializations in search, display and mobile advertising. He has a Certificate of Achievement in Web Analytics from the University of British Columbia, and has completed coursework in E-Marketing with the Canadian Marketing Association.

Our Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Mexico (CUSMA, or NAFTA 2.0) has seen challenges, but the US is still our first trading partner, both as an export market and as a supplier.

This seminar will explain the content of this major Trade Agreement and what it means for Canadian businesses, how to benefit from it, focusing on the trade of goods and the changes contained in the new agreement. This session will be of interest to companies and individuals wanting to get involved internationally, in particular importers and exporters of tangible goods.

Following +30-year in international logistics, Christian Sivière started a Montréal-based import-export consultancy in 2010, Solimpex, active in two areas:

  • consulting to help SMEs grow internationally; and
  • training on the regulatory, customs and logistics aspects of International Trade, Free Trade Agreements and Supply Chain Optimization.

Christian lectures for the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association, gives seminars and webinars for various trade organizations like the Montréal Chamber of Commerce, Invest Ottawa, Impact Hub, Supply Chain Canada; and personalized training for importers and exporters. Corporate Taxation and Corporate Structures (In Person)

About this workshop:

A corporation is a legal entity and is therefore taxed separately from its owners. To discover whether you could benefit from incorporating your business or if you are curious about your existing structure, join us for our free learning series. This course will be of interest to those owners who are contemplating on incorporating or have an existing incorporated business. During this interactive 2-hour workshop, we will:

  • go over the reasons to incorporate and points to consider
  • compare the personal tax rates and corporate tax rates
  • discuss the relationship of the individual to their corporation – salary vs. dividends, taxable benefits
  • comment on different types of corporate structures and how each structure may be applicable to you which may include holding companies and family trusts as shareholders
  • show how the corporation be used for tax planning purposes using the small business deduction and capital gain exemption

About the speaker:

Wilson began his career in public accounting with Logan Katz in 2013 as a co-op student through the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management. His dynamic personality and keen work ethic quickly allowed him to develop strong relationships with our partners and staff, as well as our clients. Wilson became a highly-valued full-time employee in 2015 and obtained his CPA, CA designation in 2018. Attend this information session to learn the basic rules and regulations you will be required to follow and how Invest Ottawa can assist you in starting and growing your business.
