Ottawa, Canada – October 9, 2025 – Invest Ottawa proudly congratulates Obruta Space Solutions, an IO Venture Path company, on being awarded $1,000,000 from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to advance its cutting-edge Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) Kit — a key step toward revolutionizing satellite servicing and space sustainability.
The funding, announced as part of the CSA’s Space Technology Development Program, supports Obruta’s project titled “Modular and Scalable RPOD System: Validation and Testing for Next-Generation Space Missions.”
This funding will help the Ottawa-based company validate and test its autonomous vision-based RPOD system, a turn-key technology that enables satellites to approach, inspect, repair, or refuel other spacecraft autonomously.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Obruta has been awarded a $1,000,000 contribution through the Canadian Space Agency’s Space Technology Development Program,” the company said in a recent LinkedIn post.
“This funding will accelerate the development of our vision-based system for autonomous spacecraft Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking—the RPOD Kit!”
Building on the success of a 17-month on-orbit software test campaign, Obruta’s new project will raise the RPOD Kit’s technology readiness level and establish a world-class testing facility to continue validating its system under simulated space conditions.
Once complete, Obruta’s RPOD Kit will help make satellite servicing simpler, safer, and more affordable — unlocking applications such as space debris removal, in-orbit refueling, and enhanced space domain awareness.
