Ottawa, ON – Ottawa-headquartered Robotics Centre has secured $5 million in financing from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to expand its manufacturing operations and scale production of Canadian-made uncrewed systems.
The company recently announced the financing from BDC’s Growth and Transition Capital team. A portion of the funding is tied to the achievement of specific milestones.
Alongside the investment, Robotics Centre has taken on a new manufacturing facility to increase production capacity and support its growing team.
Building capacity at home
A Canadian-owned developer, manufacturer, and integrator of uncrewed systems, Robotics Centre has spent the past decade delivering uncrewed and counter-uncrewed technologies to customers around the world. The company combines its own engineering and manufacturing capabilities with systems integration, and designs and builds a growing portfolio of Canadian-made aerial platforms.
The new financing supports a growing focus on manufacturing at scale, and on strengthening domestic production capacity and Canadian and allied supply chains.
“Moving from developing great technology to producing it at scale requires more than engineering,” said Khaled El-Sayed, Co-Founder and CCO of Robotics Centre, in the company’s release. “It requires equipment, inventory, people and the working capital to respond when customers need product. BDC financing gives us additional flexibility to make those investments while continuing to grow the broader business.”
The investment builds on a strong year for the company, which in April 2026 announced it had secured up to $943,850 through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program for its subsidiary, Tungsten Collaborative.
The Ottawa Success Story Continues
Robotics Centre’s expansion adds to Ottawa’s momentum as a national centre for advanced manufacturing, robotics, and uncrewed systems innovation, and reflects the strength of the technology talent and companies building and scaling in Canada’s Capital.
Invest Ottawa is proud to support and celebrate the growth of homegrown companies like Robotics Centre as they scale, create jobs, and build world-class technology in Ottawa.
