It took nearly two years.
The team at Invest Ottawa scoured research papers, websites, government statistics, even blogs to find every shred of evidence. Now more than 65 incredible facts have been married with rich visuals to create a powerful presentation that everyone can use. As Bruce Lazenby, CEO of Invest Ottawa puts it, the goal was to create a tool where, “every person in Ottawa can tell our great story, so we are all singing from the same song sheet”.
Ottawa often gets labeled The “city that fun forgot”. It’s a term so ubiquitous, a documentary film was even produced on the topic.
Now the #WhyOttawa presentation gives Ottawa a new label, “the best place to work, play and grow”. As co-chair of Invest Ottawa’s Board of Directors, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has participated in the evolution of the #WhyOttawa messaging, “This presentation clearly explains why Ottawa is the best place in the country and why we are the perfect home to start and grow a business.”
The #WhyOttawa story has also received strong support from business leaders. Recently crowned CEO of the year, Tobi Lutke of Shopify says, “This presentation highlights the reasons Ottawa is a wonderful place to build great companies.”
The presentation is available for download at investottawa.ca/WhyOttawa. Business leaders and ambassadors for Ottawa are invited to use it locally and abroad.
