Excel Fundamentals
Excel is one of the most versatile tools in the Office suite, but many of its basic functionalities often remain unexplored by users. This course will help you unlock the baseline potential that Excel has by introducing you to shortcuts and tools that will allow you to work more efficiently. After taking this workshop you will approach Excel more confidently and you will be ready to take our Excel 201 and 202 workshops.
Learning Objectives
- This workshop will cover the very basics of Excel
- You will learn how to make calculations, charts, organize data, and track progress against goals
- You will learn how to manage worksheets
- How to use a great selection of tools to build useful spreadsheets
- You will also learn most commonly used shortcuts
Who Should Attend
People who are beginners with Excel.
What to Bring
You will need to have Office 2016 or above installed on your own computer. Earlier versions will work; however, they will look slightly different than what we will be using.
This session is virtual so please attend with the capability to participate on Zoom and the ability to work with the Excel program simultaneously.

About the instructor
Paula Coons is the Finance Officer at the Parent Resource Centre. Paula started her career in financial management in ‘99 and moved to the non-profit sector in ‘04 where she fell in love with her work and the difference she realized she could make in her community. Volunteer Ottawa has a special place in Paula’s heart and life. While working at Volunteer Ottawa for 14 years, she managed many programs including Education, Youth, Corporate Volunteerism and Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement. She has developed and delivered multiple workshops with a focus on financial management, reporting and the use of technology to make work life easier. She lives just outside of the City, loves to spend time with her family and friends, and spends her summer vacation camping and enjoying the outdoors.

Cancellation Policy
There is a course minimum of 3 registrants.
An email confirming this registration will be sent to the primary email address for your member account, or the email address on this form if you are a non-member. Your registration is transferrable to anyone else within your organization. The following workshop registrations are non-refundable: (a) purchased at a discounted rate, (b) purchased using a voucher, or (c) cancellation received less than five (5) business days prior to the event. Any other cancellation is refundable, subject to a $10.00 administration fee.
