Artificial Intelligence for Business Applications

This seminar provides an overview of the opportunity that is presented by Artificial Intelligence to distill human-like discrimination and judgement capabilities from the big data that is available within your organization. AI is in the process of moving mainstream, and represents an important disruptive opportunity for firms as it can significantly increase the reach, range, and strategic capabilities of your organization by unlocking new capabilities equivalent to an additional workforce of thousands of new employees, with minimal new investments.

Course outline:

  • What exactly is AI? Recognizing and explaining it to others.
  • AI applications. Significant contemporary case studies.
  • AI building blocks. Sample of available techniques and methods.
  • AI-enabling your organization. The framework.
  • AI-enabling your organization. First steps.

Instructor: Dr. Shahzad Khan

Shahzad Khan is the CTO of Gnowit Inc, an Ottawa (Canada) based firm that provides personalized, real-time web intelligence for individuals and corporations. The firm employs artificial intelligence to automatically gather data from fragmented web sources in near-real-time and filter the data using human-like synthetic cognitive methods to provide highly curated intelligence to their clients. He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge (UK), an MSc in Information Studies from Syracuse University (NY, USA). Shahzad has been working with industrial AI application since 1998.

Faciliator: Long Dinh

Long Dinh is an investment analyst at Invest Ottawa where he engages in business development activities and helped more than 60 startups in conducting market research. Long is also an analyst at Mistral Venture Partners where he has the opportunities to work with leading A.I. startups in Mistral portfolio including Blue J Legal (Toronto), Stratuscent (Montreal) and Rare Logic (Ottawa). Long holds an MBA in Finance and a Master’s Degree in International Business
