Canada-China Cooperation in the Clean Energy Sector

Despite the recent strain in relations, Canada-China cooperation in the area of renewable energy and clean technologies is at an all-time high. Several bilateral agreements and initiatives have been signed including the Ministerial Dialogue on Clean Energy and the Canada-China Clean Tech Working Group. Canadian companies and non-governmental organizations continue to play a major role in creating a more sustainable future through the development and implementation of innovative technologies for clean energy.

The sector also has its fair share of challenges related to intellectual property protection, funding for research, and unfair trading practices.

In this context, CCYPN is thrilled to host Annie Prigge from Natural Resources Canada & Rod Lever from Innovation Science and Economic Development to shed light on this topic. They will delve into the impacts of these bilateral agreements and initiatives, provide concrete examples of how Canada and China have been able to work together to make major strides with regards to clean energy and cleantech, and draw attention to some of the challenges that this relationship presents.
