Live Demonstration
Presented by Brad Crepeau, Founder and CEO, Food Cycle Science
Food waste is one of the largest contributors to landfill methane, and much of it comes from places that are hard to serve with trucks and bins. Food Cycle Science set out to address that problem at the source. This demonstration tells the story of a company that started in Cornwall, Ontario and has grown into a global clean tech brand, with more than 300,000 FoodCycler® units sold in over 30 countries. Today its headquarters, lab, and all of its intellectual property are based in Ottawa, making it one of the region’s locally founded companies competing in a global category. Food Cycle Science was recently recognized as a 2026 CFIN Foodtech Frontier Award winner for its work in food system innovation.
What attendees will see
A residential FoodCycler will be running throughout the showcase with food scraps inside, giving attendees a chance to see the unit in operation, handle finished output from a completed cycle, and understand how a countertop appliance turns food waste into a dry, odourless soil amendment at a fraction of the original volume.
The FC-75, the company’s new commercial food waste recycler, will also be on site for a walk through of the technology. Designed for kitchens, cafeterias, and businesses of all sizes, the FC-75 processes up to 75 litres of food waste per day on site, with no hauling, no odours, and minimal oversight. It brings the same core technology to commercial, institutional, and industrial environments, and marks the company’s expansion into a new market.
The company story
Brad will share the journey of Food Cycle Science as a Canadian clean tech company: how the technology was developed, how it reached households around the world through distributors and the company’s direct to consumer channel, and how the company is now bringing a commercial product to market.
The story also touches on how FoodCycler is sold not only as a product but as a solution. Through its Programs division, Food Cycle Science works with municipalities, Indigenous communities, schools, and property managers to deliver food waste diversion programs that combine the hardware with resident engagement and measurable results.
The demonstration will close with a look at what comes next for the company, with its research, engineering, and leadership continuing to grow from Ottawa.
