Workshop to register in the Supplier Registration Information (SRI) system and the Indigenous Business Directory (IBD) for Indigenous-led businesses (English only)
Last year, the Government of Canada announced a commitment to allocate 5% of federal contracts to businesses managed and led by Indigenous Peoples.
Did you know that you need to be registered in the Supplier Registration Information (SRI) system and the Indigenous Business Directory (IBD) to be awarded federal contracts set aside for Indigenous businesses?
By registering in both systems, you make your company’s name and supply capabilities widely known to federal departments and agencies, who may use these systems to identify sources of supply for the goods and services they buy.
Procurement Assistance Canada (PAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) would like to invite Indigenous businesses to a workshop to register in SRI and IBD.
What is SRI?
SRI is a database of registered companies interested in selling to the federal government.
What is IBD?
IBD is a database designed to assist and support Indigenous businesses in the pursuit of business opportunities, including federal procurement.
What should you expect from this workshop?
At the end of the workshop, you will be registered in the SRI, and have submit your IBD profile for review. You will obtain your Procurement Business Number (PBN) which is a mandatory requirement to do business with the federal government. You will also have submitted a basic profile to the IBD, which is requirement to be eligible for Indigenous set-asides. Once your profile is approved by ISC, your profile will be visible in the IBD and you will be able to bid on set-asides.
Important: To get the most value out of the session, each participant should have the required information below to complete the registration.

- The first nine digits of your GST/HST number are your Business Number (eg: 123456789RT0001).

- A breakdown of business ownership: Your business must have 51% Indigenous ownership and control to register in the IBD, for which you will need to provide proof and upload to your profile. (Please have your proof scanned and available in pdf or jpeg format in advance. If you do not have proof of eligibility, please email: [email protected] and we will help you with this step prior to the registration. Your business ownership must equal 100%, so if the Indigenous owner does not own 100% of the business, you must also include other non-Indigenous owners in this step as well.
- Your type of business: The options are band-operated, cooperative, corporation, joint venture, not specified, not-for-profit, partnership, or sole-proprietorship.
