About our speakers:

David Gaylord, CEO, Bushbalm Skincare

David Gaylord is the current Chief Executive Officer at Bushbalm Skincare, and a former 7-year Shopify alumni. The company was seen on Dragons’ Den in 2020 and has scaled rapidly — being named Ottawa’s fastest-growing company in 2021 and 2022.

His main role is scaling Bushbalm, which sells products to treat ingrown hairs, razor burn, dark spots and other commonly ignored skin irritations. The company may seem niche, but it’s in a vast hair removal market.

For six years he worked alongside Shopify’s Chief Operating Officer, Toby Shannan and learned what goes into scaling a fast-growing operation. Since then, he’s taken his marketing and e-commerce experience to scale Bushbalm to hundreds of waxing salons in North America, large major retailers and hundreds of thousands of consumers struggling with pesky skin concerns worldwide.

Edmond Georges, Co-Founder, Hobbiesville

Edmond Georges has 19 years of experience in cyber security, data analytics, software development and e-commerce. Over the past 10 years, he has founded several companies in tech, ecom/retail, and hospitality. He specializes in strategy, tech, finance, scaling, branding and digital marketing.

Of the companies he has founded, Hobbiesville, is a standout project that bootstrapped to mid-eight figures in a short three-year timeline. Founded in the summer of 2020, the retailer focuses on trading cards, sports cards, collectibles, toys, puzzles and board games, generating 90% of sales online and 10% in-store.

In this short timeline, Hobbiesville has scaled to three locations: two stores (Ottawa (2400sqft) + Toronto(5400sqft)) and a distribution warehouse (4400sqft). To date, Hobbiesville has shipped 1,000,000+ products to 5500 cities globally.
