Invest Ottawa is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its customers and other stakeholders. We value the trust of those we deal with, and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information that you choose to share with us.

Any personal information you choose to share in this form will be used for purposes reasonably associated with your application to this Invest Ottawa program and monitoring our progress towards the goal of increasing the diversity of people in our programs and doing our best to ensure that all people have equitable and inclusive experiences throughout.

Unless specified otherwise, the information collected in this form will be shared only with Invest Ottawa staff, partners, and service providers who are contractually obligated to keep personal information confidential, and to only use it for the purposes for which we disclose it to them. Reports on Invest Ottawa’s progress towards our goals, containing aggregated information, may be shared with stakeholders outside of Invest Ottawa.

Except as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law or regulation, Invest Ottawa will only retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including without limitation for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting or underlying contractual requirements.

You have the right to request access to your personal information collected, used, or shared by contacting [email protected]. Please note that there is no fee for requests for your personal information. We will respond within 30 days, and if we cannot respond within 30 days, we will ask for an extension and explain our reasons.

If we cannot provide you access to your personal information, or if you have concerns about our collection, use, or sharing of your personal information, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada who will investigate.

Eligibility

By default, Venture Path companies are eligible to receive $10,000 awards. However, Invest Ottawa has set aside additional funding for several priority groups. If you come from any one of these priority groups, you are eligible for an additional $5,000 (total award value of $15,000). Please let us know if you fall into one of these groups below.

Note that this disclosure and additional funding is completely optional; if you would rather stick with a project that only leverages a $10,000 award that is totally fine! You'll be able to indicate your desired award amount later in this application.

Do you identify with any of these priority groups?

My company is women-led: meaning a woman has significant ownership of the business (33% minimum) and holds a C-suite title (CEO, CTO, COO, etc).

My company is in the clean technology sector: product/service that is designed with the primary purpose of remediating, reducing, and/or preventing any type of environmental damage OR product/service that is less polluting or more resource efficient than equivalent products used for a similar purpose.

My company is in the digital health sector: software-driven product/service aims to improve the delivery of healthcare services, patient outcomes and wellness, and/or the overall efficiency of the healthcare ecosystem and environment. This does not include products that will require regulatory approvals from the likes of Health Canada or the FDA.

Note – we are accepting plans for projects ranging from $10k - $15k. If you identify with one of the priority groups you may submit a project plan for $15,000. If you do not, you may submit a project plan for $10,000. See our Project Guidelines for more details.

Invest Ottawa is hereby authorized to collect, use and disclose the information in this Application and any other information Invest Ottawa requires to consider this Application and administer any future relationship Invest Ottawa might enter into with the Company (the “Purpose”).
Invest Ottawa may disclose any or all of the above information to its partners, funders, and contractors, as reasonable for the Purpose.
Invest Ottawa may conduct research on the Company and of me personally for the Purpose.
I consent to Invest Ottawa collecting, using and disclosing my personal information for the Purpose.
