About this workshop:

Everyone at some point in their life has either wanted to start a business or had an idea to improve an existing product or service.

What the two have in common is they haven’t done anything about it yet.

You aren’t alone, but if you are serious about exploring or taking the steps, Wendy’s presentation will provide you with information on what starting and running a business entails and what you bring to the business, assisting you with deciding if it is time to join others worldwide who have become part of the fastest-growing segment of entrepreneurship in the world – those over 50!

About the speaker: Wendy Mayhew

Wendy is 72 years old and has been an entrepreneur for over 40 years, and has always focused on working with entrepreneurs. In 2016, she professionally produced a video series, Real World Entrepreneur Training, to assist people looking to start their businesses. The 13-episode series was licensed to McGraw-Hill Ryerson as their first all-digital product. An accompanying course was created and licensed by McGraw-Hill.

McGraw-Hill also asked that she take over the authorship of a textbook titled Building Your Dream, taught in colleges & universities across Canada. It has been deemed the most practical textbook on entrepreneurship in the higher education market in Canada.

Seven years ago, Wendy moved over to working with older entrepreneurs and created WISER – Seniors in Business under the umbrella of BLS.

People over 50 are the fastest-growing group of new entrepreneurs in the world. They are also the most under-supported and underserved group of business owners. Through speaking presentations to small business organizations and organizations talking about Ageism, Wendy stresses the importance of including older entrepreneurs in their programming. She strongly advocates for all government levels to realize that older entrepreneurs are viable business owners and should receive the same support and services as other entrepreneurs.

Wendy is also a self-published author of WISER: The Definitive Guide to Starting a Business After the Age of 50. There wasn’t a book that walks wannabe entrepreneurs starting a business by discovering if being a business owner is something they want to be. WISER fills that gap. It is better to know before than later that it is harder than you think.

She is honoured to be recognized by her colleagues as authentic, genuine, caring, having a good sense of humour and a knowledgeable entrepreneur, always looking to help others.
