ElevateIP applications are currently closed. The federal budget signalled the government’s intention to renew and expand support for intellectual property programming, including ElevateIP. IP Assist helps companies strengthen their IP knowledge and better understand the risks and opportunities connected to their innovations. The program is structured in two steps:
IP Assist is funded by the Government of Canada. To access this program, you must be an existing IRAP (Industrial Research Assistance Program) client with an ITA (Industrial Technology Advisor) assigned.
Run by the province of Ontario, Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) provides IP education, IP funding and IP support to help Ontario businesses and researchers innovate and grow. IPON is focused on supporting companies operating in specific subsectors (see list here).

Depending on program guidelines, companies may participate in multiple IP funding supports simultaneously.

Swidget’s technology provides intelligent solutions that empower businesses and individuals to achieve safer, smarter property protection. Its products, which feature an innovative modular wireless platform for monitoring and controlling buildings, have applications for landlords, institutions, building and construction and home automation.

When she launched her mineral supplements company, Lisa Pitel-Killah knew she would need to investigate the laws of trademarks and consider some of the options available to her. “I was definitely going down that road,” says Pitel-Killah, founder of Vykon Inc. “I had filed a couple of trademarks and then I discovered ElevateIP and another government support. We’ve utilized both with great success, and it’s been super helpful for us to be able to get things into play that we wouldn’t have been able to do quite as effectively on our own.”

iCAD Dental Inc. has a goal of providing dental services at a cheaper rate, thereby enabling everyone — including those in developing countries — to access the care they need. Its plan includes being able to fabricate a permanent dental crown in 20 minutes’ time at a cost of $4, using 3D-printed material on an inexpensive 3D desktop printer.

Jiahu Wang’s company — Genvira Biosciences Inc. — specializes in building viral vectors through genetic engineering. These viral vectors are the vehicles that transport therapies to sites of disease in the human body to ultimately treat them.

Yellowbird Diagnostics has built a better mousetrap in molecular medicine. It’s being praised for its potential for earlier detection of cancers, inflammatory disease, and cardiovascular disease, among others.

NovaceneAITM has developed a tool that fine-tunes artificial intelligence (AI) decision-making for organizations, ultimately allowing companies to use their human resources more effectively.

The company has developed a software-as-a-subscription product that not only helps manage water quality, but notifies users that a system is running sub-optimally.
